For Aristotle, God is thought thinking itself—there is nothing God needs or wants, nothing outside of Godself.
In the Bible, God moves from silent self-enclosure to world creation. In observing that “it is not good for the human to be alone,” God intimates that it is also not good for God to be alone. The Jewish theologian A.J. Heschel writes that “God is in search of Man.”
So, if you want to be like God, the question is whose God?
